History of Bobby-Sue's Homemade Ice Cream
Bobby-Sue's Homemade Ice Cream opened the summer of 1988 in West Ossipee, New Hampshire. The original owners were Bobby and Sue, hence the name Bobby-Sue's. They happened to be our neighbors at the time. By the middle of the summer of 1989, they decided to sell the business and we, at the same time, were looking to buy a small business of our own. We decided that this would be the one.
Since September 1, 1989, we, Kenny and Patty Dumas, have been the proud owners of Bobby-Sue's Homemade Ice Cream. The business was pretty well established, so we chose to keep the name. At that time, we made all of our ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, sherbet and our famous waffle cones and bowls at this one location daily.
In 1991, we decided to expand our business, so we rented a quaint little ice cream stand in Freedom, NH naming it "Bobby-Sue's at Cozy Corner." In 1992, we closed the West Ossipee location and moved all the ice cream making equipment to Freedom. Since the move, we have expanded by supplying ice cream to many other ice cream shops and restaurants. The expansion has allowed us to build a larger building, to include inside seating.
Both of our daughters, Stacie and Leslie, have been involved in the business over the course of the years. The next generation has already started with our grandson, Carter and grand daughter, Natalie. They are doing a fine job serving all kinds of treats to our loyal customers. By their sides are, Tristan, Austin, Braiden and Noah who are anxiously awaiting their turn to scoop, serve and satisfy our valued patrons.
We are very proud of our product and of our reputation. Bobby-Sue's is located in a very rural area and is a wonderful and friendly place to visit. We look forward to a great season and seeing all the wonderful folks that keep us going day in and day out.
